Paul Scholes on Manchester United's Squad: "There Are Some Worrying Signs"
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has raised concerns about the current squad's quality, questioning whether any of the players are good enough to be part of a title-winning team.
"There are some worrying signs. I don’t see any players in the current squad who could be part of Manchester United’s starting XI in the long term," Scholes said. "Look at Liverpool—they have a great goalkeeper, top-class center-backs, excellent midfielders, and outstanding forwards. United don’t have that in any position."
Scholes also questioned whether United’s rumored defensive targets would be enough to compete for the Premier League title.
"Would you win the Premier League with De Ligt and Yoro as your center-backs? Is 'good enough' really the standard for United? Even when Lisandro Martínez is fully fit, he’s not good enough to win the league!" he stated.
According to Scholes, drastic squad changes are necessary.
"They need a new goalkeeper, two center-backs, two central midfielders, and two center-forwards. All of them need to have physical presence, real quality, and the ability to create a dominant team. There’s a lot for Ruben Amorim to fix," he concluded.
